Translated as 'Hungarian Salami', the Ungherese is actually of Italian origin. It comes from the North-Eastern region of Italy and was very popular in Europe during the Austro-Hungarian Empire. Salame Ungherese is made from lean and fatty parts of the pork which are minced to a fine grain and spiced with paprika before being lightly smoked.
